Message from the Executive Director

Greetings from DB1TVET Philippines!

The young who are poorer and marginalized have always been at the heart of St. John Bosco’s ministry of education and evangelization. At the beginning of his priestly ministry, he gathered the unschooled, the unskilled, and the unchurched young boys to his oratory in order to learn employable skills, learn and grow in their Christian faith, and become productive members of society. He devoted his time, talents, energy, and resources in order to cater to those individuals who wouldn’t have been considered and treated in mainstream society.  This is the mission and legacy which is being continued and pursued vigorously by the Salesians of Don Bosco (SDB) in more than 120 countries worldwide.

In the Philippines, the Don Bosco - One TVET Philippines (DB1TVET) which comprises 18 Technical Vocational Education and Training (TVET) centers continue this noble ministry of education and training of the underprivileged youth leading them to become “good Christians and upright citizens” through technical and lifelong skills, as well as values and spiritual formation. To date, more than 100 thousand young men and women are gainfully employed and have improved in their living conditions. The success of this endeavor can be attributed to the support of many industry partners, foundations, and individuals who embraced the mission of Don Bosco to the poor youth.

In this time of uncertainties and major challenges in the national and global scene, DB1TVET continues to pledge its commitment to the education and training of underprivileged youth in order to open up pathways and opportunities for a successful future. We also enjoin all TVET stakeholders to continue to support those who have less in life so that we can continue to transform the lives of many young people through a holistic Bosconian education. We also invite the many youngsters to consider Don Bosco’s TVET training and see the difference it can make in their lives and in the lives of those who matter to them.

God bless you!
