Don Bosco – One TVET Philippines, Inc. Gears Up for Sustainability

The Don Bosco – One TVET Philippines (DB1TVET), conducted a three-day Sustainability planning workshop last April 4-7, 2022 at the Don Bosco Technical College – Cebu. The workshop was attended by 12 representatives from the Don Bosco FIN and FIS Provinces. The workshop aims to craft a sustainability plan in preparation for its independence from the support of the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (abbreviated BMZ) starting 2026.

The sustainability forum was facilitated by the Executive Director of Don Bosco – One TVET Philippines, Fr. Jose Dindo Vitug, SDB.

On theĀ  first day of the forum, Fr. Vitug gave an orientation and discussed a baseline conceptualization of sustainability and how it relates to the vision, mission and objectives of DB1TVET as an organization. On Day 2, Fr. Vitug divided the participants and tasked them to examine DB1TVET organization throughĀ  S-W-O-T analysis. From the output of the participants, 8 themes emerged which will be used as the basis to craft the sustainability framework. After careful and further review on Day 3, only 6 themes remained – Salesian Mission; Governance and Management; Economics; Quality Programs and Service Delivery; Networks; Linkages and Partnerships; and Greening TVET. The forum was declared a success as it yielded the first draft of Don Bosco – One TVET Philippinesā€™ Sustainability Plan.

The participants of the sustainability forum are: Fr. Roland Guiao, SDB (FIS – Regional Director), Mr. Neil Apollo Dichoso (Deputy Executive Director), Mr. Mark Carlos Tito Gumapon (FIN – External Relations Officer), Fr. Abner Santos, SDB (Rector and Technical Director, Don Bosco – Naga), Bro. Sylvestre Crescencio, SDB (FIS – External Relations Officer), Fr. Rex Carbilledo, SDB (former Technical Director, Don Bosco – Mati), Dr. Leah Samson (FIS – Provincial Projects Development Officer) Mr. Mark Jude Tabar (FIS – Compliance Officer), Mr. Ranilo Camacho (Deputy Training Director, DBTC – Cebu), Mr. Erwin dela Pena (IT Staff) and Mr. Zandro Tobias Mante (FIS – Administrative Assistant).

Succeeding meetings will be organized to further refine the plan. The final plan will be submitted and presented to the Don Bosco – One TVET Board of Trustees for approval on August 2022.
